Christmas Dinner 2011

Our Christmas outing in 2011 was on Saturday 17 December, we went by Rail Motor to dine at Junee.

Travel was by CPH 12, 24 and 25 Rail Motors operated by Lachlan Valley Railway. They date back to the mid 1920's and were originally operated by NSW GR. They have the nickname of "Tin Hares".

The trip to Junee got away on time as we had to clear Cootamundra Station to make way for the Melbourne to Sydney XPT was was running a little late.

The Rail Motors showed their age requiring a little TLC on the run down the hill into Bethungra. Thanks to the crew running repairs were carried out in quick time and we had no other delays or disruptions to the journey.

Dinner was a success and Santa made an appearance to hand out many presents. Thank you Santa for your efforts.

The trip home was rather quick, or so it seemed in the dark. Waiting for a goods train to precede us up the line I thought someone had forgotten to put the last wagon on the end. It took a looooooooooooooooong time to pass us as we waited at Junee Station.

A good evening outing.
